Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The ryokan is at a great place. Everything in Ureshino is in walking distance. (Which is helped by the fact that the entire town is quite small.) The room was beautiful, comfortable, well equipped and had a lot of space. The public bath is also very clean and well maintained. The pools are comfortable, and the medicinal water is of high quality. The sauna is nothing special, but it is also decently made and maintained, and it is also not the main attraction anyway. The staff is very kind and really helpful when you reach out to them. The whole place is also very small and quiet, which is decent.

Negative: There is no staff in place. If you need any kind of service (besides room cleaning) you need to go over to another establishment, which is only a few minutes off, but still can make things a bit uncomfortable. Not only are no meals included in the room price, there is no option of getting any meals in place. This is especially troublesome around breakfast time, as most local restaurants are not open around then. The "spa tub" which is included in the room is a bit of an exaggeration. It is nothing to be ashamed of: a decent tub, but calling it "spa" made me expect a bit more. Also, the upper shelf of the wardrobe seemed like it skipped both use and cleaning for a while. Luckily I used it to gather my dirty laundry, so it was no problem that it got dusty.
