The house is part of the La Canonica di San Vincenti wine property, which includes of course the vineyard, the olive groves, the wine-making cantina, as well as the village church, all open for you to visit. Tasting of the La Canonica wines, olive oil, and Grappa can be done.
This sunny yellow villa is set in an old stone hamlet. It’s a lovely house, which has been transformed into a wonderful place to stay by the owner, who is also responsible for the exquisite restoration of the neighbouring romanesque church. Guests can have access to the church and even book it for weddings.
The big, open, happy house has a sequence of generously sized rooms on the ground floor – kitchen, lounge and dining room – while the four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, are laid out on two storeys. No one need lift a finger here – daily maid service can be arranged by the owner.
The décor is straight out of a glossy magazine. Cool white and cream walls and ceilings are offset by elegant minimal styling, dark tile and marbled floors, and judicious splashes of pastels and jewel-like colours in statement furniture, cushions and throws. It's a radical contemporary take yet never compromises the beauty of the original features.
The luxurious touches continue outside, with private terraces off some of the bedrooms and a shaded patio set with a large table, where everyone can come together. But it’s the south-facing garden that will capture your attention, looking down the Chianti valley to the Val D’Orcia. Pour a glass of wine picked up on your local travels, sit back, and enjoy the view.
