Positive: While the driveway is unexpectedly steep, it is 1000% worth it once you arrive. We were greeted immediately upon arrival with our keys, a welcome glass of homemade port and an offer to prepare a homemade charcuterie/tapas platter for our family of 4 including a bottle of wine made from their grapes grown on the property. It was delivered to our patio outside one of our two rooms and we enjoyed sunset with enough food to feed six people ( great when you have teenaged boys) with sweeping views over the Douro Valley. Quinta dos Padrinhos is a charming little slice of heaven with a picturesque pool and a lovely couple who own and run this vacation property. And the next morning began with an indulgent breakfast by the pool followed by a refreshing swim before we packed to depart for the next leg of our adventure. Just a wonderful stopover that feels very authentic amidst many other more commercial offerings around the valley. Highly recommend.

Negative: It’s not that I didn’t like it, but the decor was surprising and very Portuguese which added to the charm and uniqueness. While it doesn’t reflect my style, I actually appreciated the quirky appearance that made it all the more interesting,
